Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement was updated on 1 May 2025.
Fareham Journey is committed to making our website and our cohousing community accessible to people with disabilities.
What Is Web Accessibility?
An accessible website allows visitors with disabilities to navigate and enjoy the content with the same level of ease as other visitors. This can be achieved through the use of assistive technologies and adherence to web accessibility standards.
Accessibility Adjustments On This Site
We have designed this website following WCAG 2.2 guidelines and have made it accessible to the level of AA. Our website’s content is compatible with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and keyboard navigation.
As part of our commitment to accessibility, we have also:
- Utilised the accessibility testing to identify and resolve potential accessibility issues.
- Ensured clear and logical content structure throughout the website.
- Provided descriptive alternative text for all images.
- Implemented high-contrast colour combinations for improved readability.
- Minimised the use of animations and motion.
- Ensured all multimedia content is accessible and has a transcript.
Accessibility Arrangements Onsite At Fareham House
We want to design a cohousing community that is accessible for people with disabilities and compatible with assistive technology.
We invite you to join Fareham Journey and design our accessible cohousing community together. Come visit and look over the land.
Let us know when you are planning to visit so we can talk you through where to park and find the accessible entrance to support you during your visit.
Below is our accessible guide to help prepare for your visit.
- To enter the Fareham House, the main entrances have steps, but there is a wheelchair-accessible entrance located at the back of the building.
- Communal spaces on the ground floor include the communal kitchen, dining room, atrium with art gallery, games room, and library.
- Toilets are available in the corridor off the dining room and include an accessible toilet.
There is plenty of car parking outside of Fareham House and a number of paths around the surrounding buildings that should be possible to access by wheelchair, as long as your wheelchair can cope with the following hazards:
- Short grass
- Long grass
- Able to manoeuvre around plants
- Uneven ground.
Some areas have extremely long grass and it is not safe for accessing by wheelchair. But you will get an idea from the surrounding paths.
Our vision is to design the paths in the cohousing community to be fully accessible by all.
We invite you to design an accessible cohousing community with us.
